The trees, bushes and landscaping in our development is quite mature and as a result, some of our trees and bushes have exceeded their expected lifespan or have overgrown where they were planted when our development was first built.
For example, the Hawthorne trees that were planted when our development was built have been dying the past several years. During this time, dead branches were trimmed to save them for as long as possible, often at homeowner request. Unfortunately, we've come to the point where most if not all of the Hawthorne trees need to be removed.
Other trees such as those planted between driveways and causing damage to them (buckling ashphalt, large limbs overhanging driveways, limbs splitting from the trunk and in danger of falling) will also be removed. This is being done to prevent damage to driveways, vehicles and people. Trees between driveways and around our homes are evaluated in spring and fall by myself and our landscaper to try and avert problems before they occur.
Tree removal will begin late spring/early summer. Trees that are removed will not be replaced. Their stumps will be ground down and sod installed as our limited landscape budget does not allow for replacement of them due to other higher pririty projects such as roofs, tuckpointing, chimney caps and street paving which are foundational to the value of our development.
Homeowners that wish to replace these trees may do so at their own cost and only after consulting with the HoA board to ensure any new tree is consistent with the development and a planting plan is submitted for approval
Planting plans must include notifications to JULIE to mark underground utilities and usage of an insured and bonded landscaper who will be required to submit proof of insurance to our management company, Community Management Solutions.
